The liver is the body´s primary organ for detoxification responsible for both metabolising and eliminating toxins, drugs and all other harmful substances from the body. Optimal liver function is essential for clearing these toxins and preventing the build-up and/or recirculation of them in our bodies. The liver also plays a central role in metabolising (breaking down and using) and regulating essential nutrients in our body, such as proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Impaired liver function can lead to imbalances in these essential nutrients, impacting our overall health. The liver is also involved in the regulation of hormones, so liver dysfunction can contribute to hormonal imbalances, which can have widespread effects on the body. Compromised liver health is also linked to increased disease risk. If you are suffering from fatigue, digestive issues (indigestion, nausea, bloating, constipation, intolerance to fatty foods, etc.), skin problems (acne, rashes, etc.), headaches, brain fog & difficulty concentrating, mood changes, irritability, muscle and joint pain, blood sugar imbalances (dips in energy, cravings, etc.), elevated cholesterol, PMS symptoms, then you may be experiencing some level of liver function compromise and/or dysfunction. Naturopathically, I can support the liver through targeted dietary changes and specialised detoxification and elimination protocols, as well as other natural remedies.
