The Menopause Transition
Supporting specific physiological changes that occur during this critical period
The Menopause Transition
Menopause is a natural life stage that I support many women through in my practice. It marks the end of menstruation and reproductive capacity, but it’s not a single event—it’s a gradual transition. This includes perimenopause (often in the mid-to-late 40s, with hormonal fluctuations and irregular menstrual cycles), menopause (12 months without a period, typically around 50–55), and post-menopause, when symptoms often begin to settle. Some women may experience this earlier.
This transition is driven by changes in ovarian function and a decline in hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone. During perimenopause, I often see fluctuating hormone levels, which can lead to unpredictable symptoms. These changes can affect multiple systems in the body, including metabolism, mood, and cardiovascular health.
Common symptoms I see include (but not limited to) irregular or heavy periods, hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, anxiety, brain fog, and low libido. Some women also notice weight changes, joint discomfort, or increased sensitivity to stress, alongside longer-term considerations such as bone and heart health.
My naturopathic approach is to support you through this transition holistically. I focus on nourishing the body with balanced nutrition, supporting hormonal and adrenal health, optimising liver and digestive health, stabilising blood sugar, and reducing inflammation. Alongside this, I guide you with targeted and personalised lifestyle strategies around stress, sleep, and movement—helping you feel more balanced, resilient, and supported through menopause and beyond.
