Nurturing health throughout pregnancy and the post-partum period
Pregnancy and the post-partum period are two of the most physiologically demanding stages in a woman’s life. In my naturopathic nutrition and lifestyle practice, I support both stages through a whole-body approach that focuses on nourishment, balance, and recovery.
Pregnancy care
Pregnancy involves significant hormonal, metabolic, and nutritional changes to support fetal growth and maternal adaptation. Nutrient needs increase for key nutrients such as folate, iron, iodine, choline, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein, all of which are essential for healthy fetal development, placental function, and maternal wellbeing.
My approach prioritises a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet rich in high-quality protein, healthy fats, and a wide variety of colourful fruits and vegetables. I also place strong emphasis on blood sugar balance, stress management, restorative sleep, and gentle movement to support a healthy pregnancy journey. Where needed, targeted supplementation is used to meet increased nutritional demands.
Post-partum care
The post-partum period involves rapid hormonal shifts alongside physical recovery, sleep disruption, and increased emotional demands. Nutrient repletion is essential, particularly iron, protein, B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, to support healing, energy, and mood stability.
My naturopathic care focuses on restoring balance through nourishing foods, adequate rest, emotional support, and gentle, realistic lifestyle practices. Supporting thyroid and adrenal function, as well as mental wellbeing, is also an important part of reducing the risk of post-partum depletion.
Overall, my approach supports both mother and baby through personalised nutrition, targeted supplementation, and sustainable lifestyle strategies that promote recovery, resilience, and long-term health.
